JoeUser,
Thanks. It does feel good to finish a long-term project started in ~1985.
Actually, I really owe more thanks to this Collective without whose help
and suggestion over the years made this possible.
So, to the Collective, I sincerely thank you. My home LAN is a product of
the Hardware Group!

This morning I finished the initial install of my 2d NAS to my home LAN.
The firmware got updated 2 levels from default.
Yes, I do wired-only. The new toy is a Netgear RND2000-200NAS. I stuffed
it with the original Seagate 500GB HD I got 4 years ago (my NAS spare).
[now I get to shop new NAS spares!!!! Yea!]
Now that it is installed, running, and online, my home LAN is now complete
for the foreseeable future (station-keeping).
Well, pending some new gotta-have new technology!

This new NAS will live a very charmed life. It will be used weekly,
monthly,
whenever to backup my current primary NAS.
Both of my NAS' are the DUO models. Nice products.

Internal hardware is vastly different than the older model. It uses a
Marvell
'ARM' 6282 cpu attached to 256MB of RAM. The ethernet port is fully
10base1000.
The 3 USB ports all support USB3 (and 2 and 1).
It does contain an active DLNA server/device; though I have no plans here.
All in all, pretty happy for $180 (w/Promo coupon from the egg).
