Our house is a split level, and due to where the wifi router is located we
have a very weak signal in the upper bedrooms. We can't really move the
router because it needs to be where the Fios cable comes into the house.
There are also a number of other Wifi networks around. My immediate
neighbors have their 2.4 Ghz networks on channels 1 and 6 (mine is on 11)
but there are 5 or 6 other networks in range.

The real limitation is the Verizon router. It doesn't support 5Ghz and
doesn't support extenders or bridges (which I found out when I bought a
Diamond WR300N). But I've been told I can't replace it because it also
controls the IPTV features of my set top TV boxes. And even if I did buy
another router to run a 5 Ghz network, the devices we use most often
(iPhones and iPads) don't support 5Ghz.

Any bright ideas out there?

Brian
