Apparently there are several 'speed class' ratings ranging from 2MB/s (2
Megabytes/sec), 4 MB/s, 6 MB/s and 10 MB/s. Class rating is applied by
the manufacturer without verification (YMMV). 2, 4 & 6 are min
fragmented ratings, 10 MB/s is the non-fragmented speed (YMMV). This is
specified WRITE speed. Read speed could be higher.
This rating is usually on the surface of the device inside a 'C'. I've
got a 16MB Sandisk micro SDHC in my hand that is a 4MB/s device. I was
intending this memory for audio only. I might be able to whip up
something to test video speed.
Finally there are, for SDHC and SDXC cars, a UHS-1 rating (Ultra high
speed), which means data rates aroudn 50 MB/s.
