1) Tangential, but perhaps of interest

2) I was asked for advice on bringing wifi to a public housing development in the Boston area. I'm inclined to recommend the Linux/openwrt-based ROBIN/open-mesh <open-mesh.com>. It looks as if a central run of conduit, with Ethernet to each floor to support a gateway, from top to bottom of the 8-story building would be very useful. Someone recommended that the concrete floors should be reviewed via x-ray http://www.kvinspection.com/Services/ConcreteSlabXRay/tabid/160/Default.aspx or ground penetrating radar (GPR). http://www.gp-radar.com/concrete.html
prior to any drilling.

I called a company that does GPR that said it'd cost about $2,000. Anyone here happen to have relevant experience/advice... able to suggest contractors well-positioned to do either the drilling and/or radar/x-ray?

  - Thanks,
  Stephen Ronan
