Subject: [ha-Safran]: Two new publications from Argentina

(Forwarded from another listserve--descriptions are not mine)

Dear Friends,

Two new publications from the IWO in Argentina:

1.- The "Instituto Movilizador de Fondos Cooperativos" edited a new book
from its series "Desde la gente" (from the people) written by our friend
Eliahu Toker and called "El dish es tambin Latinoamrica" (Yiddish is
Latin America too) with poems from Yiddish writers who lived in different
countries of Latin Amrica or wrote about it. Poems are translations from
Yiddish to Spanish (a line in which Eliahu excells) and are preceded by an
excelent introduction the author made to the subject. The book can be
bought at Ediciones Instituto Movilizador de Fondos Cooperativos C.I.
- Av. Corrientes 1543 - (C1042AAB) Buenos Aires - Argentina, and their
web site is: http://www.imfc.com.ar

2.- The IWO Foundation of Buenos Aires - Argentina edited its first two
"Cuadernos del IWO - YIVO heftn (IWO booklets). The first one is the
corrected full text plus bibliography version of the conference Graciela
Ben-Dror gave last January at our premises on the subject "El catolicismo
argentino y los judos a la luz del Vaticano durante los aos del
Holocausto" (Argentine catholicism, the Vatican standpoint and the jews
during the Holocaust") It is a 25 pages very well documented booklet which
is a must for those interested in such a sensitive subject. Graciela
Ben-Dror is a very well known historian from the University of Haifa.
The second booklet is about the Sephardic comunity of the
Chacarita-Colegiales quarter in Buenos Aires ( "La comunidad sefarad en el
barrio de Chacarita-Colegiales" ) written by the urban historian Jorge
Eduardo Teso.

Both booklets can be acquired at Fundacin IWO - Ayacucho 483 - (1026)
