Safranim,
I have been following the discussion of the "offensive book" and what to do
about it. It seems patently obvious that what librarians do with books that
they do not feel fit into their collections is THEY DO NOT BUY THEM.

If the book in contention is truly offensive and/or inappropriate for a
collection, not buying it will surely see to it that the book goes out of
print very quickly. Trying to prevent its publication violates everyone's
right to make a judgment for him/herself. This is what censors do. As Linda
Silver so aptly points out, that is why we have book reviews in the AJL
Newsletter.
