Have you considered the "K'tonton" series? The complete book on
K'tonton's trip to Israel is out of print, but a selection of "The Best
of K'tonton" was published by K'tav not long ago, and a couple of stories
have to do with Israel. I believe they are for ages 5-8.

I would also recommend Come, Let Us Be Joyful! The Story of Hava Nagila by
Fran Manushkin, Snow in Jerusalem by Deborah DaCosta, and The Never-Ending
Greenness by Neil Waldman.

Wendy-there are a bunch of books for that age level about Israel. Also,
check the Behrman House catalog which has some materials for that age
level.

If you do not own the book JEWISH EVERY DAY from A.R.E. it is a great
resource with bibliographies of books for Preschool-Grade K or 1. Also,
AJL has put a nice publication out on books and videos for a children's
collection (forget the exact title) but there is an Israel section. Also
A.R.E. has put out a book, JUDAISM THROUGH CHILDREN'S BOOKS which has a
few Israel books in it. Any of the above books that are out of print you
can probably find on Amazon.com. Good luck! Feel free to email mail if
