NEW HISTORY BOOK FOR LOUISVILLE'S JEWISH COMMUNITY PLANNED

A Jewish presence has existed in the Louisville area since the early 19th
century, and a new comprehensive history book being prepared for November
distribution will detail Louisville's Jewish community from its inception
to the
present day. Entitled Jewish Louisville: A Community Portrait, the volume will
contain over 500 photographs and illustrations and promises to be both
visually
appealing and ultimately readable. The book is authored by historian Carol Ely
with a cover designed by noted artist C.J. Pressma. Copies will sell for $40.
"This is not be one of those tomes that will just sit on a shelf collecting
dust," said Steve Shapiro, chair of the book project's finance committee. "It
will be a colorful, cocktail table-type book that even the children will find
enjoyable." Ruth Greenberg, chair of the project's development committee,
adds,
"Whether you read just one page or the entire book, the piece is infinitely
thorough, reliable, and readable."
Holiday gift-giving time is just around the corner. Pre-order your copy now
