Even though Hayim said that we should direct our answers only to Mara
Gutierrez, I get so many questions about spanish talmud that I've decided to
send the latest news to the list:

> Do you know where I could purchase the spanish version of the talmud on CD?

At this time there is only one spanish version of the talmud (incomplete) and
absolutely none on CD. However just this month there has been a new effort to
produce an edition of the talmud in spanish:

1) The only bilingual version of the talmud which follows the original
hebreo-arameo as found in the Vilna edition page for page with a translation in
castellano translated by Abraham J. Weiss and offered by Acervo
Cultural/Editoriales, Beruti 3676 4to Piso (1425) Capital Federal, BsAs
(Argentina) Tel: 5411-4831-2870
http://www.talmud.com.ar/
The version is offered for 80$US/tome. However if you buy the 10 tomes
available they usually offer a slightly lower price.

2) Just this week I got a pamflette from the Barcelona book distributor
Riopiedras Ediciones, c/ Rocafort 249, 08029 Barcelona (Espana), tlf/fax +34 93
321 3552, mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] anouncing a new effort by the
Editorial Alef Jojma. There will be 25 hard-bound tomes each costing about 43$.

Berajot, 652pp, has just been published; the other tomes are to follow. The
blurb in the pamphlette states:
1) Literal translation of the texto
2) Text subtitled and divided into questions, answers and clarifications
facilitate study even though it is clearly stated by the translators that the
talmud is not structured in this manner.
3) Each tract is preceded by an introduction that defines and details the
principle topics.
4) Each tome includes an extensive and detailed glossary.
If you open a subscription with Riopiedras they will inform you when each tome
comes out.

Sweet, happy, prosperous and healthy year
