Call for papers: Panel of the MLA Twentieth Century English Literature
Division, Philadelphia, 2004
Topic: Philosemitism/Antisemitism: New Challenges.
Papers should interrogate relationships between philosemitism and
antisemitism in modern English cultural
production and theoretical and political effects of reassessment.
Possible focuses: literary and non-literary writing, art, film, music,
and theater; Jews and Jewishness as literary subject and
authors, the Imperial War Museum Holocaust exhibit, the role of
antisemitism and philosemitism in the new multicultural Britain, and in
postcolonial theories and practices.
250 word abstracts or 8 double spaced page papers and CVs by March 15.
