I am a volunteer librarian at a small Conservative synagogue library. We have approximately 2000 items and a membership of just under 600 families.We have a highly regarded supplementary school, but it does not meet on the premises. My library committee wants to become more active and to increase the visibility and patronage of the library. We have tried extending our hours to four nights a week, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I would live to hear from anyone in similar circumstances who have been successful in such an endeavor. Do regular hours work, or is it better to open upon request and for special events taking place in the synagogue?
