Recently I asked for recommendations of novels that deal with bereavement of a spouse.�
I don’t think I found exactly what I was looking for, but I did get some good suggestions, including In the Image by Dara Horn (Norton, 2002), because it deals with what is lost and what is gained, and Five Seasons by A. B. Yehoshua (Doubleday, 1989), a portrait of a widower and his readjustment to life as a single person.
A librarian in the public library suggested Crossing to Safety by Wallace Earle Stegner, although it does not have a Jewish theme.� Searching the database “What Do I Read Next?” also produced some titles, but unfortunately I did not find any appropriate ones with a Jewish theme.
