Fiction or A Narrative by a Woman?

_The Thread of Blue_ by Judith Belsky
(recently reissued by Targum Press)
This book may be much more well known that I know.
It was almost ten years ago. I recall finding _The Thread of Blue_
on the shelves of a torah study center for women,
it was at that time a very unanticipated find for me.
This book has a definite Jewish theme.
It isn't a novel though. And I would place it beside the growing number
of narratives and literary works by women (instead of under "self-help"
or bereavement and loss" that showed up today in a Goggle search for the
title.)
I had read novels by Potok, by Stegner, and Yehoshua.
already mentioned here. They were fine "fiction",
yet "The Thread of Blue" touched closer to the heart.
