Dear Ms. Gerson, I would like to respond to the second part of your query.
Emily Mann, the artistic director of the McCarter Theater at Princeton University, wrote and directed a play called Meshugah which is adapted from the novel by Isaac Bashevis Singer (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, 1994). I saw it at the McCarter some time ago and was impressed. I was unable to locate a record for the play in the Princeton U. Library online catalog or in Amazon and Barnes & Noble, for that matter. In addition to the McCarter Theater, the play has also been performed by the Naked Angels Theater Company, NYC (www.nakedangels.com) in their 2002-2003 season. You might ask either of those establishments if/how you could obtain a copy.
