Hi there In the process of a retrospective conversion of the records of our Hebrew and Yiddish books, I came across a strange curiosity. On the title page of a Moreh Nevukhim, Hotsaat Bet Mis'har Yitshak Funk, Vilna, 1909, the lamed in the word Vilna is printed upside down! Is this a well known aberration? Did such things happen often? It is otherwise a most attractive t.p. with the title and imprint framed by two pillars with the heads of Maimonides and Yitshak Abarbanel respectively on the top of each. Whilst the rest of the page is printed in blue the words "Moreh Nevukhim", "Mosheh ben Maimon", and "Vilna" are printed in red making this mistake all the more obvious. We have 2 copies of this particular edition and both have the upside down lamed.
