I occasionally forward Hasafran messages to the Hebrew/Judaica faculty
here at the Univ. of Utah. These are normally messages concerning new
books or new websites that might be of interest to them, or other
library issues in their fields of study. I do not strip out the name of
the original sender, because I think it lends authority to the message I
am forwarding. However, I do not forward "opinion pieces" or other
messages of a personal nature, though I think that once one has ventured
to broadcast an opinion on a list, one cannot expect privacy or
confidentiality.

As I see it, Hasafran is a professional list, and therefore we ought to
be free to share information from it with other professionals. In fact,
as a university librarian, part of my job is to keep the faculty
informed of library issues.
