I had posted, asking for the source of the saying that a person dies when 
he uses up all his words or when he runs out of steps.

Since so many of you asked for the response, this is what I received -

It is found in Sefer Chasidim, the edition published by Mossad HaRav Kook, 
paragraph 162. Also in the Mekitzai Nirdamim edition, page 13.

Additionally, as some of you mentioned, there is a mention of using up 
one's allotment of words in one's lifetime in the  short story "Tehilla" by 
S.Y. Agnon.
