The AJL Out-of-Print Books Task Force has geared up for 2005. Please give some thought to the children's books that you and your patrons have enjoyed over the past few years, but which are no longer in print (this means the publisher is no longer selling them to distributors, wholesalers, or bookstores and libraries).
You can send us your "back-into-print" wish list, but in order to act on your request , we MUST have the following information with each book you request: 1. The full title of the book 2. The full name of the author 3. Indication if this is a hard cover or paperback version 4. The name of the publisher of the out-of-print version. Note that for the same book, the publisher of the hard cover and paperback version will probably be different. We need to know which publisher and which version you are requesting. Sometimes a paperback version is still in print, while the hard cover version has gone out of print. 5. We need to know if the author is living or is dead. 6. If the author is living, we would like his or her email address (you might be able to obtain this through the author's website). If you can't provide the email address, try to provide us with the author's snail mail address. 7. If the author is dead, we will try to contact the rights holder through the publisher. As soon as you send us the above, we will act on your request. Please note that we are relying on your sleuthing abilities! We do have access to the email and snail mail addresses of some authors, but if we come up empty and you can't provide the missing information, we will not be able to contact the author on behalf of AJL to suggest ways to bring a beloved book back into print.
