I've been asked the question we all want to hear. Do you want to change
the software you have now (an outdated In Magic) and get something else or
update the existing software? I don't want to redo all 11,000 plus titles
and as of now we don't bar code our books. They have been put into our
rather archaic on-live system for retrieval, but the system does not allow
for browsing or parts of titles. This is a synagogue library and I'm here
as a part-time librarian, but I do have volunteers. With the system we
have now I still use book cards (which get lost, can't read the patrons to
name but a few) but to go to bar coding and a scanner would be maybe
overkill? Need suggestions to everything, including different software
that may work in our library. The library is catalogued in Elazar.
Thank you for your help in this and in everything.
