Dear Hasafranim,

This request came to me through another listserve. I have not been able to
find the book Cathy is talking about. Do any of you know what it is?

Thank you,

Hi,
I have a patron who read a book in the late 1970s that she thinks was by
Elie Wiesel. It was about a young German soldier who was in hospital and
dying. He wanted to be forgiven for his role in the murder of Jews.
Someone on staff brought in a Jewish person to forgive him. The dialog
of the book then goes into the nature of forgiveness. If the soldier is
forgiven is it condoning what he did?
Anyway, I cannot find a Wiesel book that seems to be the right title.
(It may have the word 'sun' or 'sunrise' in the title but that is
stretching her memory a bit.) Any suggestions are appreciated!
Many thanks,
Cathy
Carter
