Eileen Polk asked about Understanding the Holy Land by Mitch
Frank. It is to her credit that she did so, instead of buying it on the
basis of a starred review in Booklist. Very often the secular review media
recommend books about Israel that should not be recommended.
However, Understanding the Holy Land is a good book! My review,
recommending it for Jewish libraries, will be in the May/June issue of the
AJL Newsletter. It is also in the Valuesfinder,
<http://www.ajljewishvalues.org>www.ajljewishvalues.org , whose database
contains only recommended books. A search by title or by the author's last
name will produce an annotation (plus bibliographic information) describing
the book.
