Dear friends -- Some months back I announced the publication of my book, Joseph's Bones: A Collection of Stories. Word arrived yesterday that Joseph's Bones won first prize in the Life Stories category of The Writer's Digest International Self-Published Book Awards.
A few details: As one of nine first-place winners in various categories -- fiction, poetry, children's literature, etc. -- I receive $500 cash, a guaranteed review in Midwest Book Review, promotion in Writer's Digest and on their web site, plus book-jacket seals to promote the award-winning status of Joseph's Bones. The official announcement runs in the August edition of the magazine, but the promotions department gave permission to spread the word to potentially interested parties right now. I count all haSafran librarians and book lovers in that group. I'm very excited with this affirmation of Joseph's worth, and hope those of you who have not yet added the title to your shelves or thought to include it in Jewish Book Fairs will consider doing so.
