AJL Members,

At long last I'm pleased to announce that volume 11 of Judaica
Librarianship is being mailed this week. This long awaited issue is a
bridge between the wonderful contributions of earlier volumes created and
edited by Dr. Bella Haas Weinberg and Dr. Marcia Posner and forthcoming
volumes of the new editor, Zachary M. Baker. My co-editor, Leah Adler, of
Yeshiva University, and I have labored to present a rich issue that we hope
you will enjoy. I wish to thank AJL past president, Dean Pearl Berger for
her steadfast support as well as permitting the critical proof reading of
the volume by several librarians at Yeshiva University. As many of you may
know, this issue has seen me through numerous family celebrations, my
mother's passing, and a recent job change which ultimately allowed me more
time to focus on JL. Thank you for your patience.

In volume 11 you will find regular columns and highlights of the issue that
include:

Marlene Schiffman's "Sources for Central and Eastern European Jewish
History: The Louis Lewin Collection at Yeshiva University;

The Rosaline and Meyer Feinstein Foundation Lecture Series first four
lectures by Herbert C. Zafren "Was Gutenberg Jewish? And Other Conundrums:
Exploring the Margins of Judaica Bibliography," Menahem Schmelzer's One
Hundred Years of Genizah Discovery & Research: The American Share," Dina
Abramowicz's "Guardians of a Tragic Heritage: Reminiscences and
Observations of an Eyewitness," and Jacob Kabakoff's "Some Notable
Bibliographers I Have Known"

Edith Lubetski's "Educating the Educators"

Elana Gensler's "AJL Bibliography Bank"

Review of The Hebrew manuscripts in the Valmadonna Trust Library by Roger
S. Kohn
