[Please excuse cross-postings.] The Samberg Family History Program is an exciting opportunity for high school students to:
-engage in historical research by exploring their families' past -have fun while advancing their academic skills -receive a strong grounding in research methods and Jewish history -participate in hands-on workshops with historians, archivists, and curators -work on personal research projects with expert genealogy mentors A variety of field trips to sites like Ellis Island, the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the National and Municipal Archives, Eldridge Street Synagogue, and Mt. Zion Cemetery help students visualize how history is created and preserved. Visits to different Jewish communities in the NY area demonstrate the rich variety of Jewish experience in the US. Dates: July 5-22; July 25-29 optional Cost: Grant-funded fellowships* cover tuition.
