Dear Safranim,
Gosh! Go away for 2 days and look at the string on convention info! I'm
happy to be on the National Convention Committee (which does more work than
most of you know!) if they need me. I hope that no offense was taken by my
remarks about any part of this great discussion. I know how hard it is,
(remember Atlanta and Cleveland that I helped with?) but no one will be
perfectly happy with the results.
Although I am a synagogue librarian with no resources (Federation funds are
limited now, so this trip was on me!), I can guarantee you that if all
synagogue librarians could come every 2 or 3 years, they would get
something out of the convention. Unfortunately, we are the lowest
librarian on the list for money (unless it's a big shul) and for the kind
of respect given other librarians (although you know that ain't much
either!). Even so, I can't wait to send in my PR for the convention,
because it's the only way folks know how important Judaica librarianship is
in other communities!
Thank you for whoever takes on the task of the 2007 convention. We'll be
there in whatever the venue is, wherever the accommodations are, and
whenever it is (even on Father's Day, again!).
Susan
p.s. And Boston will be great, too!
