I have just started organizing our synagogue library. It's quite a small library (several hundred books) covering a wide range of Jewish subjects. Some of the books were donated by Women's League, for which we're very grateful! The library is unsorted and uncatalogued at present. I've started by preparing a simple shelf-list: author/title/publisher/year. I'd be very grateful for any advice on classifying and cataloguing the books, or if anyone can recommend handbooks or resources which would help me in this task. I'm hoping eventually to develop it as a community reading-centre/lending-library. I have no professional librarianship skills!
