Subject: [ha-Safran]: Bookwhere
Hello:
Im a new librarian, fresh out of school, working
at Temple De Hirsch Sinai in Seattle. For those
of you who know Rebecca Alexander, she has moved
on and Ive replaced her. I have a few questions
and am so pleased that this listserve exists!
1) We have been using Athena software, and
Bookwhere for cataloging. Our Bookwhere license
has expired. Are there other options out there
besides Bookwhere that I should consider, or is
that the one I should stick with?
2) We subscribe to about 40
periodicals. Our closets and many other places
are filled with back issues. After checking to
see what is accessible locally, and if I find
that some of these titles dont need to be stored
here, are there generally places I should
consider donating to? Selling on eBay? Or
should they be, dare I say this discarded? Any
other advice on management of periodicals I would
welcome. Im reading books about it and have
created a database because I cant write small
enough on those little cards to track serials manually...
