As Director of the Jewish Book Council in Israel (affiliated with The Jewish Book Council in NY) I am pleased to announce that we have partnered with Mayanot to offer a Birthright trip to Israel for young adults aged 18 - 26 who are interested in a trip to Israel which will emphasize the literary and journalistic side of Israel. Please forward this information to Jewish young adults interested in books and journalism - this is a wonderful opportunity!

READ ANY GREAT COUNTRIES LATELY?

TRY ISRAEL.

Meet the authors Israelis are reading. Talk with the people who shape the way Israelis and the world see Israel. Learn how Israel is portrayed in books and the news – from the people who write the books and the news. You will read it. You will write it. You will experience it: Israel.

Taglit-birthright Israel: Mayanot is partnering with the Jewish Book Council to allow you to see an Israel that most visitors never do – by meeting with Israel's most famous authors and journalists, respected, award-winning writers as well as the hottest up-and-coming young talent.

This exclusive trip will be led by the internationally recognized author, journalist and academic Professor Ari Goldman and Shira Dicker, the President of Shira Dicker Media International, a publicist who has worked with leading authors and organizations. Ari Goldman is the author of three books, a former New York Times reporter, and the head of the Scripps Howard Program in Religion, Journalism and the Spiritual Life and the Religion-Journalism Dual M.A. Program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.

Shira Dicker who is one of the leading book publicists in North America, has headed communications departments at several prominent Jewish organizations and is a contributing writer for more than ten publications, including The New York Times and The Jerusalem Post. As group leaders, Prof. Goldman and Ms. Dicker will bring their vast professional and personal experience to facilitate a richer visit to Israel in the unique context of this focused visit.

JBC groups to Israel have in the past met with authors and journalists such as Amos Oz, Aharon Appelfeld, Naomi Ragen, Meir Shalev, Etgar Keret, David Horowitz, Michael Oren and Yossi Klein HaLevi.
