I am writing on behalf of an acquaintance of mine who has a new book out that might interest some of you. Glenn Dynner, Professor of Judaic Studies at Sarah Lawrence College, has written Men of Silk: The Hasidic Conquest of Polish Jewish Society (Oxford University Press). This book draws on newly discovered Polish archival materials and Hebrew testimonies to illuminate Hasidism's ascendancy in 19th century Poland. Dynner won a 2004 grant from the Koret Foundation's Jewish Studies Publications Program for his work on this book
