Subject: [ha-Safran]: Planning a course for Young Adults

Dear colleagues,
My Director has asked me to plan two elective courses (14 sessions each) for our studentsone for Grades 7 and 8 on the theme of Mitzvot and Social Issues; the other, for Grades 9 and 10 on the theme of Holocaust and/or Israel. These are very broad topics and that’s why I’m asking for help. I don’t want to re-invent the wheel. If you have such a course already laid out, I’d appreciate receiving a copy. I need to plan elements such as: Goals, Objectives, Methodology, Evaluation, Resources. I’m thinking of doing a book club format, where the kids will read several books and we’ll discuss them together as a group. Ideally, there will be some concrete follow-up to the reading. I’ll be looking at Linda Silver’s Valuesfinder for resources, but maybe you have some other great ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
