Dear Safranim,
There are many facts that you should know about this issue:
1. The military government in 1976-2003 was anti Semitic.
2. In the democratic Peronist government before the coup d'etat,
there were also very strong anti Semitic trends.
3. In general the Jewish community haven't suffer from an anti
Semitic policy in the dictatorship years and their activities flourished.
4. In general people were not kidnapped or jailed because being
Jewish but they suffer twice or more tortures and violations for
their Jewishness.
5. Timmerman was indeed a "desaparecido" but world pressure leaded by
Israel helped to save him. He was released from domiciliary prison
[last stage of his detention] thanks to the intervention of Israel
which received him as "ole chadash". His attitude after his release
is very controversial. There are many publications about him, his
personality, etc. One of them: Graciela Mochkofsky, Timerman - El
periodista que quiso ser parte del poder (1923-1999) [ISBN
950-07-2420-0]. I don't know if it has been translated into English.

As I have told you in many occasions, in Israel acted a
Interministerial Commission for the Disappeared in 2000-2003, and its
Final Report, with all the testimonies and many other material is in
the following webpage which I edited [Hebrew and Spanish]:
www.mfa.gov.il/desaparecidos
