I don't understand fantasy stock markets much better
than I do fantasy sports leagues. I suppose it's for
those who enjoy the thrill of playing without actually
... ummm .... playing.

Fantasy stock markets are nothing new, but about a
week ago, I discovered a website which functions as a
"stock market" for blogs. The actual blogs are real ;
it's the trading that is simulated via the website.

As I've learned, it's not necessary for the real-life
blog-owner to consent to such trading and there are
probably many blog owners who are unaware that such
trading is even going on.

On June 1st, the blog "AJL Convention 2006" was added
to the index. It has gone up from an initial price of
29 blog cents per share to 49 blog cents per share.

The initial number of shares issued was 5000, with
1000 of them being reserved for the blog owner to
claim (in this case, that would be Sheryl Stahl).
Anyone can get a free membership, which entitles them
to an initial pot of blog dollars to spend, but there
are only 1500 public shares of AJL Convention 2006
Blog left to be sold.

*****

In other Jewish-library-blog news, 80% of the shares
of the Sunshine State Safranim blog have been sold.
The price has soared from 35 blog cents to B$2.30.

B'shalom,

Steve
