The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s Alliance for Jewish Education and the Jewish Community Center of Detroit are pleased to announce that a Jewish Children’s Literature Conference for Educators and Library Professionals will be held on Sunday, November 5 from 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM at The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit at the D. The conference will begin with keynote speaker, Linda Silver who is a nationally known specialist in Jewish Children’s Literature. Following Ms. Silver’s keynote address, literature discussion groups will analyze books of Jewish interest in categories including; Hot Topics: Controversial Jewish Children’s Books, What Does Judaism Mean to Me: Struggles with Jewish Identity in Middle Grade Novels, Israel Themes, and The Diversity of the American Jewish Experience. The discussion groups will be followed by an opportunity to hear from Ann Stampler, author of Something For Nothing and Shlemazel and the Remarkable Spoon of Pohost.

The Jewish Community Center hosts the conference at the time of their annual Jewish Book Fair. Conference participants will have the opportunity to view new Jewish books of interest for both children and adults.
