Regarding this "curiosity," when I was in the Soviet Union in 1986 as a
guest of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Soviet Academy of
Sciences, I was told that a cache of Torah scrolls had been uncovered
near Berditchev, in the Ukraine.

What happened to them? The "authorities" distributed them to museums in
Armenia, Georgia, and the Soviet "Asian" Republics.

One can only wonder if this is one of those scrolls...
