Dear all,

Hag Same'ah. As winter sets in a curling up with good book is always
nice! So read on....

There are a number of interesting titles out recently by Urim - the 4
mentioned here are new twists on well known topics. (all are hardcover)

The Book of Psalms in Plain English / A Contemporary Reading of
Tehilim by Aaron Lichtenstein. Dr. Lichtenstein gives us a
beautifully comprehensible and poetic translation of Psalms. Making
this version a wonderful present for any lover of religion or
poetry. cat.no.61748 price $21.00

GOLD from the Land of Israel / A New Light on the Weekly Torah
Portion from the Writings of Rabbi Abraham Isaac HaKohen Kook by R'
Chanan Morrison. Rabbi Morrison uses his experience as a teacher and
student of ha-Rav Kook to translate and interpret the writings. One
of the greatest Jewish thinkers, R' Kook's legacy is still very much
needed today. cat.no. 61785 price $27.00

Two significant modern commentaries on Genesis have also been
published by Urim. The first, Redeeming Relevance in the Book of
Genesis / Explorations in Text and Meaning by Rabbi Francis Nataf,
gives us one more reason to go back to the texts and to continue
looking forward for ways to understand them today. This book
includes ample footnotes and explanations. cat.no. 61749 price $24.50

The second, Wrestling Jacob / Deception, Identity and Freudian Slips
in Genesis by Shmuel Klitsner gives us insight into one of the most
discussed stories in the bible and takes the reader not only into the
biblical story but into todays psychological understanding of
deception and dealing with our own demons. cat.no. 61750 $26.00

Another couple of maybe undetected charms:

Holy Land Scenes / 1906 / The Imberger Album of Colored Photos - Then
and Now by Yoel Amir. This hardcover book is a gem for anyone that
loves looking at old photographs and seeing the same places
today. In the early days of the 20th century Christian Imberger, a
member of the Templer community in Jerusalem, had a shop near the
Jaffa Gate catering to the streams of tourist that visited the Holy
Land. Postcards were produced and almost 100 years later collections
are carefully guarded. This collection is impressive. And the book
is worth a place in any library. With text in both English and
Hebrew as well as modern day photographs of many of the locations the
reader is provided with a visit back in time while getting a bit of
geography, history and current events! Published by Yad Ben
Zvi. cat.no. 61560 $30.00

Arik Einstein / Zo 'Otah ha-Ahavah / Biography in Dialogue . Edited
by Eli Mohar. Published by Daniella De-Nur Publishers. An incredible
collection of the songs, interviews with Arik Einstein, a CD of
interviews for the book, tons of photographs and a bit of history to
pull it all together. Georgous! really. cat.no. 60915 $40.00

so if we're talking about musicians, how about a little music -
     cat.no. 60882 Meir Banai / Kamah Ahavah / ha-Osef (2006)
     cat.no. 60887 Shalom Hanoch / ha-Meitav / 3 disks (2006) $20.00
     cat.no. 60896 Rita / Tahanot be-Zman (2006) $19.00
     cat.no. 60902 Arik Einstein / ha-Osef ha-Mishulash (3 disk
collection) (2006) $33.50
     cat.no. 61825 Haverim Shel Natasha / Live (2006) $13.00

and if you are looking for new music, you might want to try
Kengeroo. A great, Israeli Reggae band. The music is fresh and fun
and relects a lively genre of Israeli music exemplified by artists
such as Mosh ben Ari. The reggae framework allows a new structure
for modern Israeli lyrics/poetry in an attractive enjoyable format.
The band's leader Shauli Gross uses reggae to express ideas about
life in Israel, war, peace, Zionism and more. not yet in the catalog,
so please use the title. price $17.00.

Again, Chag Same'ah.
