It is my pleasure to inform all Safranim that the Online Judaic
Responsa Project is now on the internet. (www.responsa.co.il)
The Responsa Project is the world's largest electronic collection of
Torah literature of its kind. Like its CD version, inaugurated in
1991, the Online Responsa encompasses the best of the Jewish sources
representing a period of over three thousand years of heritage and
tradition. All texts are fully and professionally typed in, proofread
and hyper-linked. The database includes the Bible and its principal
commentaries, the Talmud Bavli and Yerushalmi with commentaries,
Midrashim, Zohar, Halachic Law (Rambam, Shulchan Aruch with
commentaries) and Responsa collection questions and answers ('Shut'
in Hebrew).
The 'Shut' texts in this online database include over 80,000 Halachic
decisions, covering a period of over a thousand years of Jewish law.
These texts are a fathomless treasure of rabbinic ruling representing
the historical, sociological and economic milieu of Jewish reality worldwide.
The multi-lingual interface (Hebrew, English and French) developed by
NetIS technology for the Responsa Online Project is user-friendly
even for initiates. An intelligent and hierarchic system for
searching and navigation enables users to swiftly browse and study
the contents of a few sources simultaneously.
