Dear Hasafranim,
I am new to cataloging children's books. We currently have books
ranging in age from preschool to high school, but they have not been
well placed in their respective categories ("J" and "YA"). I would
like to place very simple books in EZ and picture books with story in
J and of course more sophisticated chapter books in YA.
But we have many chapter books that seem too sophisticated for J and
too simplistic for YA. I've considered creating another category,
such as PT for Preteen, but our entire collection is small (about
3000 books, adult and children) and that many categories would, I
think, fracture the children's collection too much.
What have others done in this situation?
Thanks,
Rachel Haus
