Today, many artistic works interpret the Holocaust. Is it possible to
express this tragedy in sound? Who is entitled to do so, if at all?
Ella Milch-Sheriff, accomplished Israeli composer and child of Holocaust
survivors, composed several works dealing with the Holocaust. Her opera
*And the Rat Laughed* is based on a novel by well-known Israeli
author Nava Semel. The opera, which has received international acclaim,
deals with the memory of the Holocaust in a unique way. The composer
will lecture and make an audiovisual presentation of her work.
