Dov Noy considers a folktale "Jewish" if it contains at least one of 
the following:

a Jewish life cycle event (like a bar mitzvah or Jewish holiday);
a Jewish setting (like a synagogue or a shetl);
a Jewish character;
or a Jewish message (like hospitality or charity).
