Robin -- If it's the series I'm thinking of, I'd say not to bother. the protagonist is a former nun who gets into crime solving (I can't recall how). The titles of the books are primarily there to pinpoint the time of year. In the novels I've read , there's practically nothing significant about the holiday. And she roams the year, including Easter and Thanksgiving.
While the descriptions of the deaths are mild, there's no Jewish substance in my opinion.
