As "someone in the know," here is the deal about B & N. They are not the "official" bookseller of the Convention, but they are the bookseller chosen by us to stock the RAS and STBA award-winning books, as well as books by the presenters. We do not have an exclusive contract with them, we have invited other booksellers to participate, and other booksellers will be in attendance. B & N offers services that are attractive to us, and we hope to you: they will ship materials to your libraries, they will bill your institution if you have an institutional account with them, and they will give you a discount on purchases. We will be outlining their services in a separate posting on Hasafran. B & N had a large presence in Scottsdale last year, and there were other booksellers there as well. I posted a complete list of exhibitors on the blog last night: http://ajlcleveland2008.blogspot.com/ . I am truly sorry if people were offended by an earlier post on Hasafran. We did not mean to over-inflate the importance of B & N. They will have 3 tables at the convention; The Scholar's Choice will have 5 tables; JPS will have 2 tables; URJ will be there, Enjoy a Book Club will be there, etc.. If you are unhappy about the arrangement we have made with B & N, I urge you to choose one of these other booksellers to purchase your books. Now, can we move past this and enjoy the other aspects of the convention that my colleagues and I have been working so hard on these last 16 months???
