He has been a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Princeton and Cornell and a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago, Melbourne University, the University of Munich and Waseda (Tokyo). His research focuses on the social and political history of modern Iran, education and modernization in the Middle East, Shi`i political thought and Central Asian affairs. Menashri is the author of numerous books and published papers on Iranian politics. His newest work is "Religion and State in the Middle East."
