Shalom, I don't know if this will be of much help, but there is an essay entitled "Goedel's Proof" by Ernest Nagel and James R. Newman in the anthology "The World of Mathematics", edited by James R. Newman, published by Simon and Schuster in 1956. The essay appears in Volume 3, pp. 1666-1695. Oddly, there is no attribution of Scientific American as the source of the article - perhaps that is a different version. If you can't get hold of the Scientific American, maybe you can locate the book via Inter-Libary Loan.
