Controller The Jewish Publication Society (JPS), a nonprofit book publisher in center city Philadelphia, is seeking a controller to coordinate all financial department functions, including accounting, order fulfillment, credit management, and nonprofit accounting. In addition, the controller ensures that all the financial aspects of departmental procedures are working well, and monitors and controls the current and long-term financial position of the organization. He or she also helps coordinate the planning and development of financial plans and budgets for the organization, monitors the performance of such plans, and is responsible for the accuracy and propriety of all financial records and financial statements. The controller works closely with the CEO, the COO, and group managers to develop long-term financial strategies, with specific responsibility for ensuring the financial health of the organization. Candidates must have a detailed knowledge of business procedures, financial management, budget development, and financial reporting practices Priority will be given to those with a business degree (accounting preferred) and experience in financial work in nonprofit publishing. Experience in fundraising accounting and order fulfillment and warehouse management in the book publishing industry are a plus. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
