To Whom it May Concern:

Cherille Berman thought that you might be able to post the following
request on Hasafran. (See list of referrals below.)

I am a Bronfman Alumna in touch with the head of this project, and
anyone who might be able to help out can respond to me-- I'll put you
in touch with her.
thank you!
Sophie Oberfield

Hello,

I'm writing some of you who I know are connected with schools or
libraries as part of a search for a relatively new set of
encyclopedias for a prison that I am working in. I am working with a
local non-profit organization to develop a school library at a boy's
prison in upstate New York. The first priority for this prison is to
obtain reference materials. They are particularly interested in
getting an encyclopedia set. Unfortunately, the residents have
limited to no access to computers, so encyclopedia software is not an
option. We are currently looking for schools that might willing to
donate a full encyclopedia set that is relatively new. The majority
of the residents of the facility, who are from the ages of about 14 to
21, read at a 5th to 8th grade reading level.

If any of you know of any schools or librarians that might be willing
to consider contributing to this effort, we would be so grateful. The
donation would be tax deductible, as my project is part of an
organization called Literacy for Incarcerated Teens
http://www.literacyforincarceratedteens.org/LIT/Welcome_.html).

Thank you!
