Thanks again to all who responded to my query on how to catalog the
book version of Waltz with Bashir. I sent a summary of the responses
to Hasafran on Friday, so I hope you will receive that today.

Meanwhile, I spoke over the weekend to my son, Josh Edelglass, who
has an online website that includes his original cartooning as well
as movie and DVD reviews. I mentioned my son to you in my earlier
e-mail -- he has taught me that the phrase "graphic novel" does NOT
necessarily mean that the work is FICTION. Graphic novel means any
comic book art and story presented in full-length book form.

In the case of Waltz with Bashir, Josh told me that one of the
special features on the newly released DVD describes the film as an
"animated documentary." In fact, all the characters in the film,
except for 2, are voiced by the actual real people represented. If
you wish to read Josh's lengthy review and analysis of the DVD, see
the following link. Waltz with Bashir is currently the second review
on that page:

So, I have decided to treat Waltz with Bashir as non-fiction. But I
would still welcome further discussion of whether the book is for
adults or teens. Graphic novels in my library are little used, if I
put them in the adult section, but they do get used in the young
adults section. So I would like to put Waltz with Bashir in YA, even
though it deals with a difficult subject, unless some of you can
point out to me specific parts of the book that are truely
inappropriate for teens.

Thank you again!

Liz
