Advertised Summary Job Description:
    The role to the Senior Educational Technologist is to assist
  instructors, through the purposeful use of technology and new media, in
  advancing the educational goals of the curriculum, and to manage the
planning and development of educational projects defined by faculty or
school partners.

The educational technologist will support the Jewish Theological Seminary.

Duties include:

1. Defines the scope of complex projects and services. Coordinates
the development of instructional materials for using technologies
covered in courses.  Provides oversight to programmers and designers on
the development of digital materials. Manages multiple projects
concurrently. (50%)

2. Develops plans for applying educational theory and technology to a
  specific learning or teaching problem.  Coordinates support to
instructors in the creation and implementation of course websites using
course management systems, and online resources such as wikis, blogs,
and media platforms. (25%)

3. Designs instructor workshops on a variety of online tools and
media services.  Serves as subject matter expert for designated workshop
  content. Occasionally delivers workshops.(8%)

4.Conducts outreach and follow up with assigned departments and
schools. Develops strong working relationships with academic staff and
effectively accesses institutional resources(5%)

5.Develops strategies for change within CCNMTL based on emerging
instructional technologies and evolving standards in educational
practice and design.  Evaluates and provides constructive feedback to
peers. (5%)

6. Performs other duties as assigned

This is a 3 year temporary position beginning upon date of hire.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

             Required:   Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of related
experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

             ?In-depth knowledge of the various elements of the
instructional design (ID) process, including needs assessment, learner
characteristics, task analysis, instructional objectives, content
sequencing, instructional problems, instructional strategies,
instructional delivery, evaluation instruments, instructional resources
(media selection), formative evaluation, and summative evaluation.

?Working knowledge of audio and video files, servers, and web delivery of media

?Excellent project management skills

?Experience with research tools and data analysis

?Extensive experience using Macs and Windows machines

?Knowledge of instructional software tools, Web2.0 and web services

?Proficiency with HTML and JavaScript

?Excellent oral and written communication skills.

?Excellent presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

             Advanced Degree

Prior supervisory experience

Familiarity with a Unix environment

Familiarity with programming concepts and techniques

Background in Jewish Studies or Jewish Education or general knowledge 
of Judaism (possibly including Hebrew)

Experience with e-learning systems or learning management system such 
as Blackboard or Sakai
