Dear Hasafran friends, After 18 years building this library from the day the JCC of Greater New Haven opened its doors, I am sad to say that I have been laid off due to lack of funds for my position. My last day will be Friday, November 18. I am sad for myself, and I am sad for our community that our library will no longer have a librarian -- don't really know what the future will hold for our wonderful collection. I will miss all of you and all that I have learned from you. I couldn't have succeeded at establishing this Jewish library for Greater New Haven without the support of AJL and Hasafran.
The good news is that I will devote the coming months to my fiction writing, starting with a 4-week residency at the Vermont Studio Center. I have achieved some success as a short story writer (including winning the Lilith short story contest and placing third in the Moment contest a few years back), and I am now writing a novel with Jewish content.
