Dear Friends,

In the realm of Hebrew Literature we would like to announce the publication
entitled, 'Hebrew Poems and Translations,' by Ralph Loewe. This monumental
work has classic Hebrew Poems by Hai Gaon, Ibn Gabirol, Yehuda Halevi, and
Ibn Ezra as well as medieval Hebrew Poetry. As if this weren't enough there
is classical poetry translated into Hebrew by Shakespeare, Milton and other
giants of literature. The author is a distinguished professor of Hebrew at
Cambridge. The book is published by the Haberman Institute, Israel, 2010,
isbn 9780950108667. It is highly recommended for research or reference. The
book is essential for faculty and researchers and for anyone interested in
poetry in Hebrew or English. Cat. # 78270 $ 49.00

Some aspects of Israel and Zionism overlap with history and others with
Modern Hebrew Literature. Here we would like to mention two recent titles.
First, even as we have recently celebrated the release of Gilad Shalit, we
note the publication of 'Derekh Elekha,' 'the Road to You,' by Carmit
Goldwasser about her missing soldier husband killed by Hizbolla and her
journey towards closure. Published by Yediot Hemed, isbn 978 965 545108 5.
Cat. # 77999 $35.00

Gilad Sharon has written a biography of his father Arik Sharon the legendary
Israeli General and former PM. The book not only provides an inside look at
Sharon's personality and family but a historical documentation of many of
the events, military and political that have shaped modern Israel.
Published in English and Hebrew. Perhaps this is an example of a book that
you may purchase in English from Amazon. Another book which we suggest
for those interested in Israel Studies and documentation of the immense
influence wielded by Arik Sharon on defense, on the Likud and parliamentary
politics is 'Sharon, hamesh shanim kadima,' Sharon five years forward.' The
book is a large hard cover work written, edited and published by Tzvi
Avisar. It documents in separate sections relations with Ehud Olmer (also
PM) and Tsipi Livni and the Kadima party. There is much material on the
Knesset and articles by MK Ron Baron, Shaul Mofaz and much more. Glossy
and with pictures yet this seems like a reference work, not to be confused
with a coffee table book. Cat 76943 $ 75.00

Recently, Michal Sapir has authored a biography of her father Pinhas Sapir.
The book entitled, 'ha-Yesh ha-Gadol,' is over 800 pages and documents the
life of this important political figure from the founding of the state. He
was an important figure who served as Minister of Trade and Industry and
Finance Minister as well. He was involved in the building of the Israeli
economy during the socialist Mapai period. This is perhaps an example of an
'unsexy' title nevertheless important for research and understanding of
Israeli History. Published by Yediot Hemed, isbn 978-965-545-348-5. Cat.
78023 $ 45.00

Please ask us about 'A Holistic Approach to Architecture,' a new important
unusual work by Nili Portugali and published by Am Oved. This book is a
professional , perhaps even academic work that also is significant regarding
the development and history of Tel Aviv and is also artistic. Cat 78316 $
48.00 Also,'Financing the Worlds Most Precious Treasures,' an important
work, in English, commemorating the Antwerp Diamond Bank 1934-2009. This
book by Bruno Comer and Chaim Even - Zohar published in Ramat Gan, Israel
contains much history of Jews in the Diamond Industry. I found it
fascinating and even more so that it deals also with lesser known and
important holocaust history. ISBN 978-965-90733-4-4, published 2009 Cat.no.
