*POSITION OPEN AT THE AMERICAN SEPHARDI FEDERATION LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES AT
THE CENTER FOR JEWISH HISTORY*.****

*TITLE: PROJECT ARCHIVIST*****

The American Sephardi Federation Library and Archives seeks a Project
Archivist to conduct onsite surveys of Sephardi / Mizrahi archival
materials held in the **Northeastern United States**. This is a contract
position which will run from the date of hire until July 31st. It will
require extensive travel throughout the region. The Project Archivist will
report to the Project Director.****

*Responsibilities*

1) Distribute, collect and input results of survey questionnaires****

2) Participate in review of questionnaire results****

3) Draw-up onsite visit itinerary in consultation with Project Director****

4) Make onsite visits throughout the region targeted by the survey****

a) Assessing content, condition and volume of records****

b) Advising on preservation issues.****

c) Where appropriate conducting rapid/minimal processing including
production of a preliminary inventory****

5) Begin processing of new collections deposited at ASF****

*Requirements*

1) Master’s degree in Archives/Records management or MLS from an
****ALA****accredited-program with a concentration in archival
management
****

2) Experience in appraisal and processing of archives and knowledgeable
regarding preservation issues****

3) Current driver’s license and ability to undertake extensive travel****

4) Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and
explain archival practice to those outside the profession****

5) Applicants must have excellent communication, word-processing, and
database management skills. Must be able to work quickly but with strong
attention to detail. Some knowledge of American Jewish history would be
helpful****
